OBB Level D The Labors of Hector

10 Midas’s mind raced. Who is this cowboy and why is he here? “I own this town. I command you to leave now!” Midas shouted. The young man simply shook his head and rode slowly up to Midas. “I am here to save the town,” Hector declared, “I’m not afraid of you. I don’t rent from you, so you have no power over me.” Hector sat tall and glared at Midas. I must get rid of this upstart, thought Midas, but how? Then, an evil idea popped into his evil head. I will make him an offer he can’t refuse. I will offer him the deeds to these lands, but he must complete four tasks first. When he fails, and I know he will, I will banish him. Midas grinned, “Fine, if you want to save the town, you’ll have to earn it. I will give you four labors to perform. If you complete them all to my satisfaction, I will sign over the deeds to these lands. If you fail, you are banished and the town remains mine.” Midas’s gold teeth glittered as he smiled wickedly. “Not the glittering weapon fights the fight, but rather the hero’s heart.” —Ancient proverb
